Their contributions to Nigerian society have become more significant since the independence in 1960.Nigeria women now hold major positions in sectors like health care, manufacturing, telecommunications, aviation, politics, business and finance. Due to the fact that the business and financial space is a key part of the Nigerian economy, the women in that sector are widely admired and respected.

Number 10- Aishah Ahmad

Zainab is a chartered accountant and Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance. She took over as President in September 2018, succeeding Kemi Adeosun.

Mosun Belo-Olusoga has become the Chairperson of Directors of Access Bank Plc and the KRC Limited’s Principal Consultant and Program Director. She also has headed the Equipment and Leasing Association of Nigeria and joined the Asset and Resource Management Firm board.
Number 5- Arunma Oteh
Arunma is a graduate from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is now the World Bank’s Vice President and Treasurer. Before she decided to stand firm in the World Bank, she was the Director-General of the Nigerian Securities and Exchange Commission.
Number 4- Dr Ola Orekunrin
Dr Ola Orekunrin is a doctor but let’s not stop there! She is also a helicopter pilot, and the creator of Flying Doctors Nigeria, West Africa’s first air ambulance service. Her organisation, an air ambulance company, located in Lagos, is devoted to providing trauma treatment to the most distant corners of Western Africa.
Number 3- Adebola Adesola
Adebola is a Qualified Accountant and the Executive Vice Chairman of Standard Chartered Bank Group. She was the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank in Nigeria and West Africa. She began her career as a lawyer before deciding to get a graduate degree in accounting at Harvard Business School. Adebola’s first job as an accountant was with Citibank in Nigeria, followed by a position as Managing Director of just a group of eight banks managed by First Bank of Nigeria. She has also held the position of CEO of the Standard Chartered Company.
Number 2- Deola Sagoe
Deola Sagoe, the owner of Deola, is Ondo State, Nigeria’s leading woman of African high fashion. Deola has been at the forefront of high fashion since 1989, and in 2004, she became the first black woman to exhibit a set at AltaRoma, Rome’s best-known fashion week. Her attractive worldwide style has won her a desirable customer, including Africa’s first lady, society women like Lydia Hearst, supermodel Alek Wek, and celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Will Smith. Deola, a mother of three, got a master’s in finance and Management from the University of Miami and the University of Lagos. She was chosen Nigeria’s envoy to the United Nations World Food Program’s ‘Catwalk the World: Fashion for Food’ to raise funds to help reduce the World’s hunger, particularly among children, by 2015. Deola often shows her couture collection during Cape Town Fashion Week, and it has previously invited visitors to New York Fashion Week. She is a champion!

Okonjo-Iwela is a Harvard University graduate. She has been honoured five times by Forbes Magazine as among the 100 most influential Women around the World and once by TIME Magazine as being among the most influential people.
